Sri Lanka has an overwhelming 1340 kilometres long coastline and is known for its beautiful beaches, with the warm Indian Ocean waters lovely for bathing and water sports. For sunny weather, calm seas and the optimal diving and snorkelling conditions, the best time to visit the southern or western beaches of Sri Lanka is from November to April, with places like Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna, and the eastern beaches from May to September, around Trincomalee and Passikudah.
