Mirissa
One of the ideal locations for whale watching would be around Dondra Point (accessible from Mirissa harbour). Mirissa is one of the best places to start your whale watching tour in Sri Lanka and this is the main harbor for whale watching in Sri Lanka during the months December to April.
Trincomalee
From May to October is the best time to watch the whales at the east coast of Sri Lanka, around Trincomalee. Trincomalee, 257 kilometres east of Colombo, has become one of the places where these largest animals on earth can be seen.
Kalpitiya
From Mid-October to the end of March is the best time if you love to watch schools of dolphins, while the sea off Kalpitiya teems with an abundance of playful spinner dolphins. During the months of February until May, a few sea miles out of the beach of Kappalady, blue whales, sperm whales and the majestic grey whales can be seen.
